Karen Literary Prize For short novels, stories, essays, poetry, fiction and non-fiction, personal accounts, diaries, etc., in English, original for the subject, treatment or use of the language. First Prize: Euro 50. Second Prize: Euro 25.
REGULATIONS: 1. Participants must be Karen. Members of the organising committee or the judging panel are not eligible to participate. 2. Each participant can present up to two entries. 3. Prizes will be awarded for the winner and the runner-up. 4. Works must be sent in the form of text in the body of an E-mail rather than attachments, and must be sent to webmaster#karenpeople.org. They must be received by the end of November. 5. Works have to be original and unpublished. Translations, adaptations and remakings of previously published works will not be admitted. Copyright remains with the authors. Works can later be published elsewhere, if the original submission to the Karen Literary Prize is acknowledged. 6. No responsibility is accepted for the accidental loss or damage of the works presented. Submitted works will not be returned. 7. Maximum length is 3,000 words 8. Works can be written by two authors who will accept equal credit. 9. Teachers can submit works on behalf of their students. Authors should provide their name, age, city and country of residence. Those who desire it can remain anonymous and use a nickname. 10. The judging panel reserves the right not to award prizes. 11. Awards will be presented no later than mid-December. 12. The judges' decisions will be final. No correspondence shall be entered into. The winners will be informed by E-mail. 13. Entries can be paid either by cheque, Amazon.com vouchers, or direct bank transfer. Charges are to be borne by the winner of the prize. 14. A certificate of participation will also be given to the winner and the runner-up. 15. KarenPeople.org reserves the right to publish online all the entries it receives, and keep them online as long as it sees fit.
